Ubisoft Has Reduced Its Headcount By Over 1,000 Employees In The Last Year
Ubisoft has significantly reduced its workforce, cutting over 1,000 employees as part of a broader cost-optimization strategy. According to the company’s fiscal year 2026 earnings report, approximately 1,200 people were laid off as of March 31, 2026, leaving the company with 16,590 remaining employees.
The cuts are part of an aggressive cost-reduction effort, with Ubisoft decreasing expenses by roughly €325 million (18%) compared to fiscal year 2023. The company noted that attrition levels are near record lows, particularly among senior staff—a potentially significant statement given the scale of the layoffs.
Ubisoft has indicated that further workforce reductions are expected throughout the next fiscal year as the company continues pursuing cost-cutting measures. This suggests the current round of layoffs may represent just the beginning of a longer restructuring process. The publisher’s approach reflects broader industry trends of workforce optimization amid challenging market conditions and evolving business models.
