Splitgate Dev Announces Titanfall-Inspired Shooter Empulse
1047 Games, the studio behind the portal-based shooter Splitgate, has announced its next project: Empulse, a Titanfall-inspired movement shooter. The game is slated to enter early access later in 2026. Studio head Ian Proulx indicated that while the team will continue supporting Splitgate: Arena Reloaded — the revitalized version of Splitgate that relaunched in December 2025 — Empulse represents the studio’s primary focus going forward.
Proulx acknowledged his continued belief in Splitgate: Arena Reloaded as “a great game,” though he expressed some uncertainty about what the title needs to improve. The comment suggests potential challenges with the Arena Reloaded launch or player reception despite its recent relaunch. The studio’s pivot toward Empulse as the main priority indicates a strategic shift in resources and development focus toward the new movement-based shooter.
The announcement comes relatively shortly after Splitgate: Arena Reloaded’s December 2025 debut, marking a rapid transition to the studio’s next major project. The Titanfall-inspired direction for Empulse suggests 1047 Games is pursuing a different gameplay niche than Splitgate’s portal mechanics, potentially aiming to capture players interested in fast-paced, mobility-focused competitive shooters.
