Modern Warfare 4 Reveal Looks Imminent As Infinity Ward Teases A “Relentless” Experience

Infinity Ward has begun teasing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, with new studio heads Mark Grigsby and Jack O’Hara promising fans a “bold” and “relentless” experience as the franchise attempts to recover from last year’s disappointing Black Ops 7. The announcement comes amid significant leadership changes at the storied developer—both executives are veterans of Infinity Ward, with Grigsby having worked on the series since Call of Duty 2 in 2005, including a stint at Respawn Entertainment from 2010-2012.

In social media posts and an official letter, Grigsby and O’Hara emphasized the studio’s commitment to its core design philosophy, stating they will remain “true to the bold design that makes up its DNA” while building “visceral, immersive combat experiences.” The studio heads explicitly confirmed plans for “the definitive Modern Warfare,” signaling an effort to revitalize the franchise.

The timing is critical for Activision’s flagship series. Black Ops 7 achieved Call of Duty’s worst sales performance since 2008, with lukewarm reviews and was outsold by Battlefield 6. Modern Warfare 4 will face intense competition from Rockstar Games’ GTA 6 during the crucial holiday season. With the reveal imminent, Infinity Ward is banking on the Modern Warfare brand’s historical strength and new leadership’s vision to restore the franchise’s market dominance.
