The latest 100% Chinese-made GPU may still lag behind an RTX 3060 but it could be the start of something big in graphics cards

Lisuan has released the LX 7G100, reportedly the first fully Chinese-manufactured GPU capable of running modern DirectX 12 games. In a graphics card market currently dominated by AMD, Intel, and Nvidia, this represents a notable milestone in GPU manufacturing diversification and technological independence.

YouTube tech channel 潮玩客 (chaowanke) was among the first to conduct hands-on testing and benchmarking of the new graphics card. While performance benchmarks show the LX 7G100 still lags behind Nvidia’s RTX 3060, the successful development demonstrates that alternative GPU manufacturing is technically feasible and advancing.

The significance of this release extends beyond immediate performance metrics. The LX 7G100’s existence highlights the potential for manufacturing diversification within the semiconductor industry, reduced geopolitical dependency on traditional incumbents, and the possibility of expanded competition in the GPU market. This could have long-term implications for supply chains and device accessibility globally.

For consumers, practical adoption remains limited given the performance gap between the LX 7G100 and established mainstream options. However, the successful launch and market entry of a fully domestically-produced Chinese GPU may represent an important inflection point for the industry, potentially enabling future iterations with improved performance and broader market viability.
