Square Enix reveals new details about The Adventures of Elliot’s earliest era

Square Enix and Team Asano have unveiled fresh story details about The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales following the launch of the game’s Prologue Demo this week. The information focuses on the game’s earliest narrative period, a time-travel adventure that has drawn inevitable comparisons to the beloved 1990s RPG Chrono Trigger.

The earliest era in the story is dubbed “The Age of Budding,” representing the furthest point back in time that players will explore. Set at the dawn of civilization, this period depicts a precarious balance between humanity and sentient beast tribes. Early humans rely on self-crafted weapons to defend against the beast tribes, establishing the game’s foundational conflict between these two civilizations.

While time-travel narratives are common in RPGs and naturally invite Chrono Trigger comparisons, the developers suggest these parallels run considerably deeper than surface-level similarities. The connection appears intentional rather than coincidental, suggesting The Adventures of Elliot will forge its own distinct narrative path through its multiple time periods.

The Prologue Demo’s release marks an early opportunity for players to experience the game before its full launch, providing a glimpse into the developers’ vision for this episodic adventure featuring protagonists Elliot and Faie.
