Hasbro says new digital Magic experiences are coming beyond MTG Arena

Hasbro is expanding Magic: The Gathering’s digital presence beyond the current MTG Arena offering. During an earnings call on May 20, Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks announced that new “digital iterations” of Magic are in development. This news comes as Hasbro reported strong financial performance, with Wizards of the Coast revenue growing 26% year-over-year to $582 million, driven largely by Magic properties.

The expansion appears to address a significant gap in MTG Arena’s current offering. Arena is limited to 1v1 matches and notably excludes Commander, which is Magic’s most popular format among physical card players. By developing additional digital experiences, Hasbro aims to bring more of Magic’s diverse play formats to the digital space.

The financial momentum supporting this expansion is substantial. If current growth rates continue, Wizards of the Coast could reach $2 billion in annual revenue in 2026. Contributing to this surge is Lorwyn Eclipsed, Magic’s first set of 2026, which has become the best-selling first-party Magic set ever released, demonstrating strong player engagement and revenue performance.

While specific details about the new digital iterations remain limited, the announcement indicates Hasbro’s commitment to expanding Magic’s digital ecosystem beyond Arena’s current limitations and reaching broader player preferences across the game’s various formats.
