Update: Last Flag dev Night Street Games lays off ‘about a dozen’ staff

Night Street Games has laid off approximately a dozen employees as part of a significant restructuring effort. The studio now operates with just 13 remaining developers, a dramatic reduction from its previous size. The layoffs affected the team that developed Last Flag, a title the studio invested substantial resources into bringing to market.

In a statement, co-founder and CEO Mac Reynolds acknowledged the difficulty of the decision while expressing pride in the team’s accomplishments. Reynolds noted that “game development is an inherently risky business” and recognized the courage required to pursue new creative ventures. The studio has committed to supporting affected employees, pledging to spend the coming months helping departing staff find new opportunities.

Moving forward, Night Street Games will prioritize ongoing support and updates for Last Flag before pivoting to new game development. The significant downsizing suggests the studio encountered financial or performance challenges that necessitated cost reduction—a pattern increasingly common across the gaming industry as studios face market pressures and uncertain returns on development investments.
