Summer Game Fest art showcase highlights Pragmata, Borderlands 4, Absolum and more
Game Maker’s Sketchbook, an annual celebration of video game art organized by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS), iam8bit, and fortyseven communications, returns for its fifth consecutive year at Summer Game Fest. The showcase features a carefully curated selection of artwork from development teams across the gaming industry, offering insight into the creative vision that transforms initial concepts into fully realized interactive experiences.
The exhibition showcases diverse artistic disciplines and approaches, including evocative conceptual artwork, richly imagined environmental designs, and intricate character designs. Featured titles in this year’s showcase include Pragmata, Borderlands 4, and Absolum, among numerous other games. The displayed works provide audiences with a behind-the-scenes look at the artistic direction and creative processes employed by various studios during game development.
In addition to being physically exhibited at the Summer Game Fest event, the artwork is also accessible through an online gallery, extending the showcase to a broader global audience. The event highlights an often-overlooked aspect of game development, celebrating the visual artistry and design work that forms the foundation of modern video game creation.
