The Expanse RPG Recasts Its Protagonist After Player Complaints

Owlcat Games has announced plans to recast the voice actor for the male protagonist in its upcoming RPG The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, following player feedback from the game’s recent beta test. The studio also plans to recast the voice for a character named J.

In a blog post on the game’s Steam page, Owlcat Games stated: “While the voice actor for the male protagonist and J put in a lot of good work, they felt less expressive than we wanted. Because of this, we are changing the voices of the male protagonist and J.”

The decision came after players during the beta phase expressed concerns about a perceived lack of emotion and expressiveness in the original voice performance. Rather than attributing the issue to the voice actor’s capability, the studio acknowledged the quality of their work while determining that the performance didn’t meet the emotional requirements for the characters.

This recasting represents a notable mid-development adjustment for the title, demonstrating Owlcat Games’ responsiveness to player feedback during the early access phase. The studio’s willingness to replace voice acting before full release suggests a commitment to meeting quality standards before launch.
