Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition Switch 2 Release Date Revealed
A Definitive Edition of Sonic Frontiers is confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2, according to reliable leaker Dealabs’ Billbil-kun. The enhanced version is scheduled to release on June 23, 2026, coinciding with Sonic’s 35th birthday and franchise anniversary celebrations.
The Switch 2 version will retail for $49.99 USD and will be available in both digital and physical formats. While Billbil-kun has an established track record of accurately reporting game announcements ahead of official confirmation, SEGA has not yet made an official announcement regarding the Definitive Edition.
The original Sonic Frontiers launched in 2022 and became the best-selling 3D Sonic game of all time, selling 3.5 million copies worldwide. A Definitive Edition typically indicates substantial enhancements over the original release, though specific improvements remain undetailed at this time.
The strategic release timing around Sonic’s birthday milestone suggests SEGA may use the occasion for an official reveal and broader franchise celebration. Further details are expected as the announcement approaches.
