BitSummit announces its 2026 awards, including VGC’s Media Highlight award

BitSummit, Japan’s premier independent video game festival, has announced the winners of its 2026 awards during BitSummit Punch, the 14th iteration of the annual event held in Kyoto. The three-day festival features a dedicated awards ceremony that recognizes and celebrates some of the most interesting and innovative game exhibits on display.

Sloppy Forgeries, a comedy competitive painting game developed by Playful Systems, has been selected as Video Game Chronicle’s (VGC) Media Highlight award winner. The game’s creative approach to competitive gameplay mechanics and its humorous presentation earned the recognition from the respected gaming media outlet, positioning it as a standout title from the show.

In addition to VGC’s award, Artis Impact, described as a futuristic turn-based RPG, claimed the Vermillion Gate award, which is bestowed annually to recognize exceptional and outstanding exhibits at the festival.

The BitSummit awards ceremony celebrates the diverse and innovative titles showcased at the event, highlighting both emerging developers and established indie studios that are pushing creative boundaries within the independent gaming space.
