A Broken Sword movie is in the works, aiming to move the adventure game classics into ’the next medium it deserves'

The Broken Sword adventure game series is being adapted into a feature film, with development co-led by Revolution Software—the franchise’s original creators—and Story Kitchen, a production company specializing in video game adaptations for screen.

Story Kitchen has established a track record with gaming properties, having produced the well-received Sonic the Hedgehog films and Amazon’s upcoming Life is Strange television adaptation. The Broken Sword film’s script is being written by Evan Spiliotopolos, whose credits include the live-action Beauty and the Beast adaptation, The Huntsman: Winter’s War, and The Pope’s Exorcist.

While details about the film remain limited, the project represents another high-profile effort to bring a beloved video game franchise to film. Revolution Software’s involvement as co-developer suggests an emphasis on translating the game’s essence to cinema. The collaboration was reported by Variety.
