Star Fox On Switch 2 Is Getting A Day One Update
Star Fox will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 next month with a required day-one update that unlocks several premium features, as revealed on Nintendo’s Japanese website. The update enables the game’s online Battle Mode, a 4-versus-4 multiplayer experience pitting Team Star Fox against Team Star Wolf in competitive dogfights.
In addition to multiplayer functionality, the day-one patch provides access to GameChat character avatars and AR features, allowing players to digitally assume the appearance of Fox McCloud and other members of the Star Fox roster. These features enhance personalization and immersion for players.
Access to all online features requires an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription, consistent with Nintendo’s subscription model. This update requirement aligns with Nintendo’s established practice of releasing day-one patches and system firmware updates to unlock online services across its first-party titles. The approach ensures online infrastructure is properly configured at launch while allowing the base game to release on schedule.
