“The MG-1 MK.II is on a whole other level”: Maingear’s revamped gaming PC addresses (almost) all of my last-gen complaints
Maingear has released the MG-1 MK.II, an updated pre-built gaming PC that incorporates extensive customer feedback from the original model. According to Windows Central’s review, the company successfully addressed most complaints from the previous generation.
The MK.II features several significant improvements. The all-in-one liquid cooler is now installed more optimally, resulting in improved cooling performance and better overall airflow. The system includes enhanced RGB lighting with diffused effects, custom front panel artwork, and comprehensive dust screens throughout the chassis. Notably, all components use standard consumer-grade parts with no proprietary elements, simplifying repairs and upgrades.
The build quality remains exceptional, with impeccable assembly and attention to detail that extends to the aesthetics alongside practical improvements.
However, minor drawbacks exist. Cable management relies on zipties rather than premium solutions, and the front panel offers limited I/O connectivity for peripherals.
Windows Central found the MG-1 MK.II to be an outstanding pre-built gaming PC that effectively addresses previous generation complaints, with only minor issues preventing it from being flawless. The system demonstrates Maingear’s commitment to incorporating user feedback into product refinement.
