Tekken 8’s Baki crossover and all the other fighting game news from Combo Breaker 2026
At Combo Breaker 2026, one of North America’s premier annual fighting game tournaments, developers revealed their biggest announcements of the event. The headline reveal was that Yujiro Hanma from the martial arts manga and anime series Baki the Grappler will join Tekken 8 as a guest fighter, arriving in early 2027.
Yujiro is the father of Baki’s protagonist and is characterized as possessing superhuman strength, effectively serving as the series’ final boss. Baki the Grappler has been running continuously since 1991. His inclusion in Tekken 8 represents an unusually ambitious crossover choice for the fighting game franchise, compared favorably to previous guest character selections like Final Fantasy 16’s Clive Rosfield, who joined during Season 1.
Yujiro will be part of Tekken 8’s Season 3 roster alongside returning characters Kunimitsu, Bob, and Roger Jr., with Bob scheduled to release this summer before Yujiro’s 2027 debut.
Beyond the Tekken announcement, Combo Breaker 2026 hosted tournaments for multiple major fighting game titles including Street Fighter 6 and Invincible Vs. Developers also used the event to reveal roster information for other upcoming fighting games, including Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, and 2XKO.
