Grave Seasons is the terrifying Stardew Valley clones you’ve been waiting for

Perfect Garbage is developing Grave Seasons, a horror farming simulation that deliberately blends cozy agricultural gameplay with psychological horror elements. The game follows a protagonist relocating to a charming village where they hope to build community relationships, only to encounter creeping dread and an unsettling sense of being watched while exploring nearby woods.

Co-founders Emmett Nahil and Son M created the concept by exploring the naturally unsettling tension already present in farming simulations. According to the studio’s writer Son M, the team recognized that the farming game genre has always contained an undercurrent of psychological unease—stemming from elements like animal mortality and the inherent risks of agricultural life. Rather than downplaying these darker themes, Grave Seasons brings them to the forefront, creating a horror experience that subverts genre expectations.

The project combines traditional farming mechanics with dramatic narrative and genuine horror elements, positioning itself as an ambitious genre-defying title. By merging the comfort appeal of farming simulations with authentic scares and psychological tension, Grave Seasons targets an experience that challenges both cozy simulation and traditional horror conventions.
