Jason Voorhees Will Slay Dead by Daylight Players From June 16

Jason Voorhees, the iconic slasher villain from the Friday the 13th franchise, is joining Dead by Daylight as a playable killer on June 16, 2026. This collaboration between Behavior Interactive and Jason Universe fulfills a decade-long request from the horror game’s community, arriving less than two years after Friday the 13th’s standalone game was permanently shut down.

Players will gain early access to the character on Steam’s public test build starting May 26, 2026. In-game, Jason is called “The Slasher” and wields unique abilities designed to reflect his relentless nature from the films. He can turn invisible and strategically reappear at key environmental points such as breakable walls and pallets, destroying these obstacles while pursuing survivors. These powers align with Dead by Daylight’s asymmetrical PvP mechanics while capturing Jason’s iconic gameplay style.

According to Horror Inc. executive VP Robbie Barsamian, Friday the 13th fans have anticipated this crossover since Dead by Daylight’s original launch. The timing provides a meaningful opportunity for the franchise’s fanbase, offering a major platform to experience the character following the closure of Friday the 13th’s dedicated title. Behavior Interactive’s Senior Creative Director Dave Richard expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, marking another significant milestone for Dead by Daylight’s expansion as a premier destination for horror franchise integrations.
