Book Review: Fatal Fury / Garou Densetsu: The Ultimate History - Another Bitmap Beauty
Bitmap Books has announced a new publication titled “Fatal Fury / Garou Densetsu: The Ultimate History,” a comprehensive 468-page book documenting the storied SNK fighting game franchise. Written by Robert Jones, this release continues Bitmap Books’ established pattern of creating detailed gaming history volumes, following their previous successful publications chronicling the King of Fighters and Metal Slug franchises.
The book opens with an examination of the Fatal Fury series’ inception and traces its evolution through the years, including coverage of the latest entry in the franchise. With multiple Fatal Fury titles now available on Nintendo Switch—both as standard ports and selections in the SNES Switch Online library—this historical guide is timely for both longtime fans and newcomers seeking to understand the franchise’s legacy. The publication serves as a comprehensive resource for appreciating Fatal Fury’s significance within fighting game history and for contextualizing its various titles and iterations.
