GTA 6 Was Supposed To Release Today
Grand Theft Auto 6 has been delayed for the second time. The game was originally scheduled to release today, May 26, 2026, but Rockstar Games announced it will launch on November 19, 2026 instead. This follows the game’s initial postponement from Fall 2025 to May 2026, announced in May 2025.
Rockstar cited the need for additional development time to meet quality expectations. In a statement, the studio said it aimed to “deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve” and finish the game “with the level of polish you have come to expect.” The delay continues Rockstar’s established pattern of postponing major releases.
The announcement has prompted widespread reactions from the gaming community, with fans sharing memes and jokes about the delayed launch. Notably, Rockstar’s official Twitter account still displays a pinned tweet from May 6, 2025, featuring GTA 6 Trailer 2 with the now-outdated May 26, 2026 release date. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick recently confirmed the November 19 date remains on track. Despite the extended wait, no new gameplay footage has been shown in over a year, though Rockstar plans to begin marketing the game during summer 2026.
