Current PS Plus Subscribers Screwed Again by Days of Play Discounts
Sony has once again restricted its Days of Play promotional discounts on PlayStation Plus subscriptions to new and upgrading members, excluding current subscribers who wish to renew at their existing tier.
The promotion, running from May 27 through June 10, 2026, offers discounts of up to 33% on 12-month PS Plus subscriptions. However, the offer is limited to entirely new PS Plus members and those looking to upgrade to a higher tier—specifically from PS Plus Essential to Extra, or from Extra to Premium.
Existing subscribers attempting to extend or renew their current subscription at the same tier are excluded from the discount, a practice Sony has maintained for several years. This strategy consistently generates frustration among players who feel penalized for their loyalty.
The tiered approach essentially allows the company to incentivize new user acquisition and paid upgrades while offering no price relief to current subscribers renewing at their current service level.
