Sorry, Astro Bot’s New PS5 Update Doesn’t Have Anything to Do with State of Play
Astro Bot on PS5 has received a small update (version 1.019.000, 400 MB) with no official patch notes from developer Team Asobi. The sole addition is an in-game pop-up promoting PlayStation Tournaments as part of Sony’s current Days of Play promotional campaign. Players who opt into the tournament feature will see the promotional pop-up, which is available across multiple PS5 titles.
The update offers no significant gameplay additions or features, disappointing hopes that the patch might somehow be connected to PlayStation’s upcoming State of Play presentation. Instead, it serves a purely promotional purpose, encouraging participation in Sony’s competitive gaming ecosystem. While Astro Bot remains one of the PS5’s standout titles and continues to receive updates, this particular patch focuses on marketing rather than content expansion. The absence of official patch notes combined with the minimal scope of changes demonstrates this was straightforward promotional functionality rather than a meaningful gameplay enhancement for players.
