Dragon Quest XI Gets The ‘Definitive Edition’ Treatment (Again) For Switch 2
Square Enix has announced Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, launching on September 24th, 2026. The announcement arrived via debut trailer, following the game’s rating certification earlier in the year.
The new Switch 2 version features several enhancements compared to previous releases, including new story chapters, the ability to toggle between 3D and 2D presentation modes, and graphics/performance options allowing players to prioritize either visual fidelity or frame rate performance according to their preference.
This represents another re-release for Dragon Quest XI, which originally launched on Nintendo 3DS in Japan on July 29th, 2017, followed by a Switch version on September 27th, 2019. The game continues Square Enix’s ongoing strategy of bringing its major franchises to Nintendo’s latest hardware.
