On the podcast: Take-Two, Ubisoft, Monopoly Go and SciPlay news plus data and soft launch nuggets

The mobile games industry showed mixed financial performance in recent earnings reports. Take-Two Interactive maintained strong mobile revenue, with its mobile division accounting for roughly half of the company’s total earnings. This performance was driven by several studios including Zynga, Peak, Nordeus, and Rollic, all posting year-on-year growth.

In contrast, Ubisoft reported a significant downturn, describing their results as a “low point.” The company’s mobile revenue declined, and launches for major franchises including Rainbow Six and The Division underperformed expectations.

Meanwhile, Hasbro continues to capitalize on Monopoly Go’s success through partner Scopely, generating approximately $40 million per quarter—described as potentially the best licensing deal in gaming business history.

Separately, SciPlay announced staff reductions, reflecting ongoing challenges affecting some studios in the mobile gaming sector despite the market’s continued overall strength.
