‘Launching the Game Is Just the Beginning’: Don’t Trade in 007 First Light for PS5

007 First Light has established itself as one of 2026’s strongest single-player gaming experiences, featuring a substantial 10 to 15-hour campaign that ranks alongside other notable releases this year including Pragmata and Resident Evil Requiem.

Developer IOI has signaled strong commitment to extended support beyond the initial launch. Chief Development Officer Véronique Lallier stated that “launching the game is just the beginning,” indicating the studio has ambitious post-launch plans in development. A key component of this roadmap is the TacSim mode, which remixes the game’s main campaign levels by introducing entirely new challenges and objectives for players to tackle.

IOI has previously implemented this approach successfully with its Hitman franchise, where TacSim updates have sustained player engagement long after the core story completion. The studio’s track record with extended content support suggests 007 First Light will receive similar long-term treatment. This announcement effectively discourages players from immediately trading in their copies, as additional substantial content will continue to arrive through the planned TacSim roadmap, positioning the game for an extended lifespan similar to IOI’s live-service approach with previous titles.
