Global Game Jam launches micro-grant program to support indies and emerging talent
Global Game Jam has partnered with Endless Foundation to launch “Small Projects, Big Impact,” a micro-grant initiative aimed at supporting indie studios and emerging game developers. The pilot program will distribute grants of up to $2,500 to indie studios, enabling them to create short-form, paid micro-projects across various game development disciplines. The program connects successful applicant studios with aspiring game professionals aged 18 and over, creating structured work opportunities in areas including art, design, programming, and audio.
The initiative addresses dual objectives: helping indie studios accelerate development by accessing additional project capacity while providing emerging developers with valuable paid work experience and portfolio-building opportunities. By facilitating these micro-projects, the program aims to strengthen the indie development community while building the emerging talent pipeline. The arrangement allows early-career professionals to work with established studios in a supported environment, fostering industry growth and professional development.
