GTA 6 Boss Says High Review Scores Reflect Rockstar’s “Commitment To Quality”
As Grand Theft Auto 6 approaches its release within the next six months, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has expressed confidence in the game’s critical reception and reaffirmed the continued importance of review scores in the gaming industry.
During an interview with The Game Business, Zelnick highlighted Rockstar Games’ exceptional track record of critical acclaim, noting that the studio’s titles typically receive scores in the mid-90s to high 90s—an achievement he attributes to the company’s unwavering “commitment to quality.” He pointed to recent successes including Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, both of which achieved high 90s review scores.
Zelnick acknowledged that the media landscape and gaming discourse have evolved significantly since Grand Theft Auto 5’s 2013 release, with substantially more voices contributing to critical conversations. Despite these changes, he emphasized that positive review scores remain important for major releases like GTA 6. His statement underscores the gaming industry’s continued reliance on critical reception as a metric for both commercial success and cultural impact.
While too early to predict GTA 6’s final critical reception, Zelnick’s remarks suggest confidence that the sequel will uphold Rockstar’s reputation for excellence and quality.
