Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era reveals early access roadmap as publisher Hooded Horse celebrates 1m copies sold during its first month

Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era has achieved significant commercial success, selling over 1 million copies in its first month since launching on April 30th across PC platforms including Steam and the Microsoft Store. The game notably released day-one on PC Game Pass, making this milestone particularly impressive.

Publisher Hooded Horse and developer Unfrozen Studio have announced an extensive early access roadmap outlining future content and improvements. The plans include system reworks, new game modes, and a teased roguelike mode, signaling the team’s commitment to expanding the game’s content during its development phase.

The commercial performance represents a remarkable revival for the franchise, which had largely stalled under parent company Ubisoft’s stewardship since Heroes of Might and Magic 5 released in 2006. By returning to the design principles of the 1999 classic Heroes of Might and Magic 3, Olden Era has resonated strongly with both longtime fans and new players. The game sold 250,000 copies on its launch day alone, demonstrating immediate market demand and justifying the developer’s strategy of building upon the beloved original formula rather than attempting a radical reinvention.
