Intel’s New Handheld Gaming PC Chips Are Here At Computex 2026

Intel has announced two new custom-designed chips for handheld gaming PCs ahead of Computex 2026: the Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme. Based on the Panther Lake architecture unveiled at CES 2026, these processors represent Intel’s focused entry into the portable gaming market dominated by AMD.

The Arc G3 Extreme, positioned as the flagship, features 14 CPU cores paired with a 12-core Arc B390 GPU. The standard Arc G3 variant includes two P-cores, eight E-cores, and four LPE-cores, offering a slightly less powerful alternative. Both chips are complete systems-on-chip (SoCs) specifically engineered to meet the thermal and performance requirements of handheld gaming devices.

The first devices to integrate these processors are already launching. Acer’s Predator Atlas 8 will be among the initial releases, while MSI is also preparing variants of its Claw handheld line with the new chips. Intel has secured partnerships with 11 device manufacturers, including major players like Acer, MSI, and Microsoft, to develop new gaming handhelds around these custom processors.

This announcement reflects Intel’s strategic pivot to compete directly with AMD’s Ryzen processors, which have become the standard for premium handheld gaming PCs. The company’s renewed focus on handheld gaming comes after the mixed reception of earlier initiatives, suggesting a more deliberate and purpose-built approach to this growing market segment.
