Victims of cheaters in Marvel Rivals will be refunded all the ranked points they lost if they report them thanks to NetEase’s new Anti-Cheat Rank Compensation System
Marvel Rivals has experienced a significant surge in cheating within its ranked competitive mode, prompting developer NetEase to take action. The problem reached critical levels as cheaters openly exploited the game’s systems, streaming their illicit gameplay and taunting legitimate high-ranking players. Some bad actors even boasted publicly about their exploits across social media and streaming platforms.
In response, NetEase launched both immediate enforcement and a new player protection system. The developer implemented a ban wave targeting confirmed cheaters while simultaneously introducing the Anti-Cheat Rank Compensation System—a feature designed to restore faith in ranked play. Under this system, players who fall victim to cheaters can report their accounts and receive full refunds of ranked points lost during matches against banned cheaters. This compensation approach acknowledges the impact of cheating on legitimate players’ competitive progress and aims to restore fairness to the ranked ladder.
The new system represents an acknowledgment that traditional anti-cheat measures alone are insufficient and that affected players deserve restitution for matches compromised by cheating. By offering point refunds contingent on reporting and subsequent account bans, NetEase creates both a deterrent and a remedy. The system encourages the community to actively participate in anti-cheat efforts while ensuring that legitimate players aren’t permanently disadvantaged by encounters with rule-breakers. This proactive stance on both enforcement and compensation reflects growing industry recognition that competitive integrity requires multi-faceted approaches to maintain player trust in ranked systems.
