Nintendo World Championships winner’s 3DS is going for over $20,000 on eBay
John “Numbers” Goldberg, winner of the 2015 Nintendo World Championships, has listed his championship prize 3DS XL on eBay for over $20,000. The console is signed by legendary Nintendo game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, significantly enhancing its collectible value.
Goldberg announced the auction on X (formerly Twitter), stating he had carefully considered the decision before putting the prize up for sale. The device represents a unique piece of Nintendo esports history, awarded as the grand prize for winning the prestigious Nintendo World Championships.
Miyamoto’s signature makes this console particularly valuable to collectors, as the iconic designer is among the most respected figures in gaming history, having created or contributed to many of the industry’s most beloved franchises across multiple decades.
The sale reflects the growing market for authentic gaming memorabilia and championship prizes, especially items connected to industry legends. As Nintendo has moved forward with newer hardware like the Switch, the 3DS has become increasingly sought after by collectors seeking pieces of the company’s handheld gaming legacy.
For gaming enthusiasts and collectors willing to pay the premium, this offers a rare opportunity to own authenticated Nintendo history linked to both the World Championships and Miyamoto’s personal signature.
