A Pragmata sequel? Well, “of course” Capcom’s game director would love one, but alas, he is “not the only one who decides”

Pragmata, Capcom’s new sci-fi action-adventure IP, has emerged as a major commercial and critical success since its February 2026 release. The game, which pairs a small girl with an astronaut in a space-based narrative, achieved remarkable sales figures: 1 million copies sold in its first two days and 2 million copies within its first 16 days.

In a recent GamesRadar interview, Pragmata director Yonghee Cho expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of a sequel, saying “Of course I’d love to see a sequel.” However, he cautioned that the decision does not rest with him alone, stating “I’m not the only one who decides” and characterizing his position as a personal opinion rather than an official commitment.

Producer Naoto Oyama offered a more cautious response, focusing on maximizing the current game’s reach rather than discussing future projects. He noted that roughly one month had passed since launch at the time of the interview and expressed uncertainty about what the future holds.

The strong commercial performance positions Pragmata alongside other 2026 Capcom releases including Resident Evil Requiem and Monster Hunter Stories 3, with Onimusha: Way of the Sword planned for later in the year. While the director’s personal enthusiasm for a sequel is clear, no official sequel development has been announced, leaving the franchise’s future contingent on Capcom’s corporate decision-making.
