See How 007 First Light’s Iconic Outfits Compare To The James Bond Movies

007 First Light, IO Interactive’s first major James Bond game in over a decade, has launched successfully across PS5 and PC. The game tells an origin story featuring a 26-year-old James Bond as an MI6 recruit who has not yet earned his 00 status, navigating espionage training and dangerous missions.

The release has performed exceptionally well commercially, with IO Interactive reporting 1.5 million copies sold in the first 24 hours. Critics have praised its cinematic quality and gameplay structure, comparing it to an “Uncharted-meets-Hitman” hybrid with a strong narrative focus. The story centers on a conspiracy involving Theia, an MI6 artificial intelligence system designed to provide vital intelligence but revealed to be heavily flawed and compromised. The narrative intentionally leaves some plot threads unresolved, suggesting potential sequels.

The game features extensive cosmetic options, including iconic outfits referencing decades of Bond film history—from Sean Connery’s classic tuxedo to Daniel Craig’s “Day of the Dead” outfit from Spectre. Beyond combat and stealth gameplay, the experience includes collectibles, puzzle-solving with door codes, mini-games, and a notable voice cast. IO Interactive has already deployed a hotfix addressing launch crash bugs. A Nintendo Switch 2 release originally scheduled for April remains delayed without a confirmed date, though the title’s strong early performance demonstrates significant commercial appeal.
