Crimson Desert’s 1.09.00 patch adds another highly-requested player feature (as well as loads of new pets)
Crimson Desert received patch 1.09.00, arriving one week after its previous update and introducing a highly-requested feature: full controller button remapping. This addresses persistent player complaints about the game’s complex control scheme since its March launch. While developer Pearl Abyss previously introduced a simplified control option, the new remapping functionality gives players full customization across all controller buttons on supported platforms, enabling them to configure controls to their preferences.
Beyond control improvements, the patch adds approximately 30 new species of small animals that can be registered as pets, expanding the game’s customization offerings. New animations for pet interactions—specifically for picking up and putting down pets—round out the content additions.
The rapid update cadence demonstrates Pearl Abyss’s commitment to iterative development, with weekly patches showing responsiveness to player feedback. Controller remapping represents a direct response to one of the most persistent concerns since launch, allowing players to adapt the game to their own control preferences rather than forcing adherence to the default scheme.
