Nixxes heroically adds long-awaited upscaling support to Helldivers 2, from PC to Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PS5 Pro
Helldivers 2 received patch 6.2.5, bringing long-awaited upscaling support across all platforms. The update, developed by Arrowhead Studios in partnership with optimization specialists Nixxes Software, adds support for DLSS, FSR, XeSS, and PSSR upscaling technologies, enabling better performance on both PC and consoles.
The patch includes several complementary features designed to improve the game’s technical performance. These additions include variable rate shading, dynamic resolution scaling, latency-reduction features, and various stability improvements and optimizations. The update also refines performance on high reflection settings, introduces new resolution options for capable displays, and improves VRAM management for PCs with limited memory. As a bonus, it restores the ability to climb over small rocks.
This represents the most significant technical upgrade Helldivers 2 has received since its launch in 2024. Specifically for consoles, Xbox Series X and PS5 receive FSR 3.1 upscaling support, while the PS5 Pro gains PSSR support. PC players benefit from a fuller array of upscaling options tailored to different hardware configurations. The patch was slightly delayed from its original May 27 release window due to an unexpected submission bug outside of Arrowhead’s control. Notably, Nixxes and Arrowhead previously collaborated to reduce the game’s install size by 85 percent—from 154GB to just 23GB.
