Intel’s Arc G3 goes official: Acer Predator Atlas 8 and OneXPlayer 3 PC gaming handhelds look powerful, expensive

Intel has officially unveiled its first purpose-built chipsets for PC gaming handhelds at Computex 2026: the Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme. These new processors feature Intel’s 14-core Panther Lake CPUs paired with up to 12 Xe3 GPU cores, delivering competitive raster performance alongside ray tracing and XeSS 3 upscaling with multi-frame generation capabilities.

A notable software feature is Intel Precompiled Shaders, which aims to reduce stuttering by utilizing cloud-compiled shaders for selected games—similar to Valve’s approach on SteamOS and Steam Deck. Currently, 13 titles support this feature, marking the first Windows 11 handheld implementation of the technology.

Three gaming handhelds are launching with the new Arc G3 chipsets. The Acer Predator Atlas 8 features an 8-inch display with 1900×1200 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 500 nits brightness—matching specifications with the Lenovo Legion Go S, which it resembles in design. The MSI Claw 8 EX AI Plus is positioned as the first handheld to ship with the Arc G3 Extreme variant, while the OneXPlayer 3 is also expected to feature the new chips. All three represent a significant step forward for Windows-based handheld gaming, with specialized silicon designed to optimize performance in the portable form factor.
