Will Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Be On XBOX Game Pass?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, the franchise’s 2026 installment, will not be available on Xbox Game Pass at its October launch, marking a significant shift in Microsoft’s strategy for the service. The absence reflects Microsoft’s recent decision to lower Xbox Game Pass prices while simultaneously removing day-one access for Call of Duty releases—a departure from the subscription service’s previous approach to major franchise titles.
While the game will eventually arrive on Game Pass at an unspecified later date, it won’t be available immediately upon release. In response, Activision has introduced a loyalty program designed to reward longtime Call of Duty players. The program offers a 10% discount on the premium Vault Edition of Modern Warfare 4 to players who have purchased and played Call of Duty titles from Modern Warfare 2019 through Black Ops 7, regardless of whether they played via Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation, or other platforms.
The discount offer represents a compromise between traditional day-one Game Pass inclusion and standard retail pricing. However, the benefit is limited to the premium Vault Edition, with no discount mentioned for the standard edition. This approach reflects broader industry trends around subscription service economics and how publishers are balancing digital distribution with monetization strategies as subscription prices adjust downward.
