Modern Warfare 4 On Switch 2 Has Been “So Smooth” For Infinity Ward
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 with a native port, marking the franchise’s return to a Nintendo platform for the first time since 2013. Infinity Ward, the game’s developer, has confirmed that the porting process has progressed smoothly, with co-studio head Jack O’Hara reporting that the game “got up and running on the platform really quickly once we got the hardware” and describing the experience as “fun to be on a new platform.”
The news comes after Phil Spencer, former Xbox boss, had previously noted that bringing Call of Duty to Nintendo’s systems would require significant work. However, Infinity Ward’s positive progress suggests that the technical challenges may be manageable. The company’s quick turnaround with Switch 2 hardware indicates that the modern iteration of the engine and development tools are well-optimized for the platform.
This development represents a significant opportunity for the Call of Duty franchise to reach Nintendo’s audience, which has been without a mainline entry in the series for over a decade.
