NetEase reports 6.9% increase in games revenue to $3.7bn during Q1
NetEase has reported strong Q1 financial results, with gaming revenue rising 6.9% year-over-year to RMB 25.7 billion (approximately $3.7 billion). The company’s total revenue increased 6.1% to RMB 30.6 billion ($4.4 billion), with the gaming segment representing a significant portion of overall performance.
The gaming division continues to rely heavily on online game operations, which accounted for 97.5% of the segment’s net revenue—consistent with the same period last year. This demonstrates the stability and importance of NetEase’s online gaming portfolio to its business model.
Growth was bolstered by strong performance from self-developed titles, including Fantasy Westward Journey, Where Winds Meet, Identity V, Eggy Party, and Sword of Justice. NetEase attributed the increased sales to regular content updates and ongoing gameplay innovations, underscoring the company’s commitment to keeping its catalog fresh and engaging for players.
The results highlight NetEase’s continued dominance in the Chinese gaming market and its ability to monetize a diverse portfolio of games across different genres and player bases. The company’s strategy of maintaining live-service titles through consistent updates appears to be driving sustainable revenue growth despite competitive pressures.
