3 must-play May hidden gems that you might have missed
May 2026 proved to be an exceptionally strong month for video game releases, delivering a diverse lineup of titles despite the postponement of the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6.
The month featured robust performances from major AAA releases including Forza Horizon 6, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, and 007: First Light. Running alongside these commercial heavyweights, several prominent indie titles made significant impacts on the gaming community, including Mina the Hollower and Zero Parades: For Dead Spies, underscoring the continued strength of the independent gaming sector.
Subnautica 2’s early access launch has proven particularly successful, with strong sales figures indicating robust player interest in the sequel.
The abundance of May releases created a competitive landscape where numerous quality games received less attention than they might have otherwise warranted. With June’s release schedule appearing noticeably lighter than May’s crowded slate, the gaming community now has an opportunity to discover and engage with hidden gems that were overlooked during the month’s busy period.
