The QD-OLED gaming monitor that started it all got a big upgrade
Alienware is marking its 30th anniversary by unveiling an upgraded successor to its pioneering QD-OLED gaming monitor from 2022, set to launch in July 2026. The refreshed AW3426DW maintains the same 34-inch curved ultrawide format with 3,440 x 1,440 resolution and 1800R curve as its predecessor, though specific improvements and pricing remain to be announced.
The announcement comes as part of Alienware’s broader Computex 2026 presentation in Taipei, where the company is showcasing an expanded monitor lineup. Beyond the upgraded QD-OLED flagship, Alienware is introducing new Penta Tandem QD-OLED displays and traditional VA LCD options, reflecting the company’s diverse approach to gaming display technology.
The original AW3426DW was a landmark product that helped establish QD-OLED as a viable technology for gaming monitors, valued for its deep blacks, high color accuracy, and vibrant visuals. This new iteration suggests Alienware continues to refine and invest in OLED gaming display technology despite ongoing concerns about potential burn-in on always-on gaming HUDs.
