ARC Raiders PvE ‘Rebellion’ Map Condition Being Tested in China

Embark Studios has begun testing a dedicated Chinese version of ARC Raiders, the extraction adventure game that launched in October 2025. As part of the regional release, the studio is introducing new content including a map condition called ‘Rebellion Incident’ that modifies traditional PvP gameplay.

The Rebellion mode operates with a unique ruleset: players cannot damage each other during normal gameplay. However, if a player initiates a deliberate ‘rebellion,’ they are immediately marked as a traitor and exposed to hostile fire from other players in the lobby. This mechanic creates a distinct risk-reward dynamic where cooperation is incentivized, but betrayal carries significant consequences.

The mode has generated interest among the player community, particularly from PvE-focused players who have expressed enthusiasm for content that prioritizes cooperative gameplay over competitive combat. The introduction of such mechanics suggests Embark Studios is exploring ways to diversify ARC Raiders’ gameplay offerings beyond its core extraction gameplay loop.

Region-specific versions of popular shooters are standard practice for releases in China, often featuring localized content, modified mechanics, or separate game clients. This Chinese version of ARC Raiders follows that tradition while providing an opportunity for Embark Studios to test new gameplay mechanics with a dedicated player base before potentially rolling them out more broadly.
