Eggstinct Mixes Rocket League Tricks With Mario 64 Platforming

Eggstinct, a multiplayer dinosaur game developed by Manaforce Studios, was recently featured in the Insider Gaming Showcase. Founder Jesse Jenkins revealed that the game combines mechanics from multiple gaming inspirations, prominently blending Rocket League’s competitive multiplayer action with Super Mario 64’s platforming and exploration elements.

The core gameplay centers on players controlling dinosaurs that throw eggs, a concept that Jenkins acknowledges shares surface-level similarities with Yoshi titles and Super Smash Bros. However, the game aims to establish its own identity through a unique fusion of influences spanning both classic games from the 1990s and contemporary multiplayer hits. Jenkins describes the resulting experience as a “floppy dinosaur experience” designed for enjoyable multiplayer sessions with friends.

According to Jenkins’ discussion with Insider Gaming, the initial concept was born from a desire to play games inspired by 1990s classics, though specific details about which games informed the design remain limited from the available interview excerpts.
