Magic’s new Marvel set makes this utterly broken Commander combo even better
Magic: The Gathering’s new Marvel Super Heroes set introduces a powerful Doctor Doom card that has caught the attention of competitive players for its potential in the Commander format. The card creates two creature tokens when it enters the battlefield, a mechanic that mirrors the classic Grave Titan card. This similarity allows the new Doctor Doom card to slot into existing infinite combo strategies that have long been associated with Grave Titan, potentially making those already-strong plays even more viable and powerful in competitive play.
The set features both Marvel heroes and villains, with Doctor Doom being a central character given his importance in the upcoming films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Multiple versions of Doctor Doom are available throughout the set, including in a preconstructed Commander deck that pairs Doom with Loki. However, this particular Doctor Doom card may prove more impactful for serious players than the commander deck version, thanks to its compatibility with established combo patterns that can generate significant board presence or create game-winning situations within Magic’s Commander format.
