Noctua aims to effectively banish thermal paste horror stories and gooped-up CPU sockets

Noctua, the Austrian cooling manufacturer, has announced a strategic partnership with Carbice, a U.S.-based specialist in vertically-aligned carbon nanotube thermal interface materials. Under this exclusive agreement, Noctua will serve as the primary retail distributor for Carbice’s innovative carbon nanotube thermal pads.

The first product from this collaboration is the NT-CP1 AM5/4, a dedicated thermal pad designed specifically for AMD Ryzen processors utilizing the AM5 and AM4 sockets. The product will become available through Noctua’s channels starting in September 2026. Carbon nanotube thermal interface materials offer potential advantages over conventional thermal paste, addressing common pain points including inconsistent application and CPU socket contamination.

Beyond this initial offering, Noctua and Carbice have committed to ongoing collaboration on future product development, suggesting the partnership will expand into additional thermal management solutions. The announcement was made during Computex, one of the industry’s major computing trade shows, underscoring the growing emphasis on advanced thermal technologies in PC cooling. This move reflects broader demand from enthusiasts and system builders seeking more reliable and effective thermal management solutions compared to traditional thermal paste compounds.
