PlayStation ‘Shovelware’ Crackdown Continues as Major Publisher Warns Its Games Will Soon Be Pulled

Sony is intensifying its efforts to clean up the PlayStation Store by removing shovelware games—cheaply produced, low-effort titles that have cluttered digital storefronts. The latest target is publisher Webnetic, which will have its entire library delisted from PlayStation in the coming days.

Webnetic held the third-most games on the PlayStation Store as of January 2026, with 1,222 titles in its library. The publisher is known for producing games that exemplify the shovelware category, including titles like The Giraffe G, The Sheep Quiz, and Tile Jong. While players may not be familiar with these games individually, they’ve been highly visible on PlayStation’s digital storefront, making it difficult to browse for quality titles.

This removal represents part of a larger campaign by Sony to declutter the PS Store. The platform already eliminated over 1,000 games in January 2026, followed by another significant wave of delistings in April. With Webnetic’s removal, potentially thousands more low-quality titles will be removed from PlayStation.

The publisher has announced it will continue operating on other digital platforms. In a statement, Webnetic indicated it will shift focus to Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Steam, maintaining its presence on other storefronts despite the PlayStation removal. This move underscores Sony’s deliberate strategy to improve the quality and usability of its digital marketplace by removing exploitative and low-effort content that has long plagued the platform.
