Project Motor Racing Dev Says Team “Let Players Down” After Troubled Launch

Project Motor Racing experienced one of the most difficult launches in recent racing game history, plagued by significant technical issues that severely damaged player reception. At launch, the game suffered from widespread bugs, stability crashes, online connectivity problems, and various other technical concerns that quickly generated negative reviews and sharp criticism from the competitive sim racing community. Months after its release, the game continues efforts to rebuild trust and recover from the poor initial impression.

Straight4 Studios, the developer behind Project Motor Racing, has brought in veteran sim racing programmer Aris Vasilakos to help turn the situation around. Vasilakos, who joined the team in May, previously contributed to the development of critically acclaimed racing simulators Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione. Speaking publicly at the SimRacing Expo in Charlotte, Vasilakos acknowledged the significant impact the troubled launch had on players and the community. His hiring signals the studio’s commitment to addressing the core technical issues that undermined the game’s reception and player retention.
