Team WE Descend LPL Playoffs Descend Into Chaos
Team WE pulled off a stunning upset in the LPL Split 2 Playoffs, defying expectations to reach the Upper Bracket final after an unlikely postseason run. The team finished the regular season in eighth place with a 1-13 series record, barely qualifying for playoffs after narrowly defeating LNG Esports 3-2 in a Play-In match.
However, the underdog squad caught fire in the playoffs, delivering shock victories that have upended the tournament bracket. Team WE defeated reigning First Stand Champions Bilibili Gaming (BLG) 3-1, eliminating the heavily favored defending champions who had dominated the regular season with only two series losses. All five of BLG’s players had been selected to the LPL All-Pro team. Team WE’s momentum continued as they swept Anyone’s Legends 3-0, further securing their Upper Bracket advancement.
The chaos extends beyond Team WE’s rise. Several high-profile teams that entered playoffs as favorites now occupy the Lower Bracket, including JD Gaming, Anyone’s Legends, and Bilibili Gaming. Their displacement demonstrates how unpredictable the playoff format has proven this split. Team WE’s journey from barely making the postseason to competing for a Finals spot showcases how crucial playoff momentum and strategic adaptation can be. The team’s dominant victories against top-tier opponents suggest they’ve identified crucial advantages that weren’t apparent during the regular season.
