Control Resonant’s release date revealed in bombshell Sony State of Play story trailer

Remedy Entertainment’s highly anticipated sequel Control Resonant has received an official release date: September 24, 2026. The announcement came during PlayStation’s June State of Play livestream, accompanied by a new story trailer showcasing the game’s reality-bending narrative and mind-bending visuals.

The game stars Dylan Faden, the brother of the original Control protagonist Jesse Faden, who must confront a catastrophic supernatural threat that has consumed Manhattan and threatens humanity’s existence. According to Remedy, Dylan is the sole playable character, though his sister Jesse plays a significant role in shaping the story as the narrative explores their complicated family history and his struggle to overcome his troubled past.

The trailer demonstrates the game’s visual ambitions through mind-bending environmental transformations reminiscent of Inception, featuring warping urban landscapes, redirected trains, and collapsing buildings. Remedy is notably bucking current AAA pricing trends: Control Resonant will launch at $59.99 for the standard edition—$10 cheaper than the prevailing $69.99 baseline for current-generation console games, with additional cosmetic content available separately.

The September 24 release date places Control Resonant in an exceptionally crowded release window, sharing its launch day with Silent Hill: Townfall while competing with other major September 2026 releases including Marvel’s Wolverine and Phantom Blade Zero. The announcement fulfills developer assurances that the game would meet its 2026 release window, resolving previous fan concerns about potential delays.
