Fallout 76 Is Coming To PS5 And Xbox Series X|S With Better Frame Rates And Up To 4K Support

Bethesda has announced that Fallout 76 will receive a next-generation update for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with public testing beginning in June 2026 and a full release planned for later in the summer.

Current owners of Fallout 76 will be able to download and test the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions starting this month through the PlayStation and Xbox stores. The testing phase will help Bethesda refine the update before its official launch.

The next-gen update brings significant technical improvements to the multiplayer title. Both Xbox Series X|S and PS5 versions will target 60 frames per second. Additional enhancements include improved draw distances, better shadow rendering, and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support on compatible displays. The Xbox Series X, Xbox One X, and PS5 Pro will support 4K resolution, while the base PS5 will run at 1440p. These upgrades represent a substantial visual and performance boost from the original versions.

The update was originally announced in October 2025, making this a long-awaited enhancement for the post-apocalyptic online RPG. While specific release dates have not been provided, Bethesda confirmed the upgrade will roll out this summer as a free update for existing players.
