Mortal Kombat 2 digital release date and 4K Blu-ray confirmed
Mortal Kombat 2, the live-action sequel based on the popular video game franchise, is coming to home viewers this summer. New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures announced Tuesday that the film will become available for digital purchase on June 9, just over a month after its theatrical release on May 8.
The digital release will be available across major streaming and purchase platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home, allowing audiences to watch the film from home through various services. A streaming release date on HBO Max has not yet been announced.
Following the digital release, the film will be available for physical ownership on July 28 through 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and standard DVD formats. The physical releases are expected to include special features, though specific details about the bonus content have not been fully disclosed.
The sequel has performed well commercially since its theatrical debut, grossing more than $122 million globally to date. The strong box office performance has supported the decision to move the film to home viewing platforms just weeks after its theatrical window, a strategy common for major studio releases in the current film distribution landscape.
